In this blog post, we’re going to take a brief look at two of the major aspects of the Same Day Teeth® protocol: placing the implant and inserting the prosthetic. If you’re not yet familiar with Same Day Teeth®, it is the state of the art protocol for dental implants that gives patients a new smile in just one visit. Same Day Teeth® can achieve the great results of traditional dental implants but without the waiting traditionally associated with dental implants. With Same Day Teeth®, we are proud to get the same great aesthetic and functional results as we do with traditional dental implants, but we are able to do so in the same visit. With Same Day Teeth®, there is no waiting for the new teeth to be inserted in the implant and the multiple procedures required.
Placing the Implant
First, we start off with some of the most advanced state of the art technology available for planning dental implant surgeries. We complete a full imaging workup using a 3D cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scan. This allows us to evaluate the patient’s bite and plan the optimal placement location for the dental implants with precision. We use surgical planning software along with these images to develop a treatment strategy which is used as a guide throughout the procedure. For the dental implant surgery, we use the nSequence® proprietary protocol to find the optimal placement locations for the dental implants.
The Restorations: Your New Teeth
Then the restorations, or prosthetics, are placed. With Same Day Teeth®, these are created by our prosthodontist, Dr. Philip J. Hedger. We place a bar-supported, immediate-load, full-arch restoration during the same visit as the dental implant surgery. Our custom-designed prosthetics are milled from a solid block of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) using impressions and computer images of your bite. This material is non-toxic and highly biocompatible. PMMA is very strong and durable and is color-matched to the patient’s natural teeth for a seamless integration into the smile. With Same Day Teeth®, we provide immediate enhancement to the function and aesthetics of the bite.
A prosthodontist is a professional who use their advanced education, extensive training, and experience along with state of the art technology to treat dental conditions and restore aesthetics and function to his or her patients. A prosthodontist is an expert in restoring and maintaining the functionality and aesthetics of the mouth. Dr. Hedger has extensive education and experience in his field which he puts to use in providing the utmost care and best aesthetic results for our Same Day Teeth® patients.
