How Does the Prosthodontist Help with Same Day Teeth®?
The prosthodontist plays a key role in the dental implants procedure. Whether you’re looking at Same Day Teeth® or traditional dental implants, the work of the prosthodontist is front and center in the patient’s new smile, as they create the prosthetic that must integrate aesthetically with the patient’s natural teeth. In this blog post, we’ll take a look at what a prosthodontist does in the context of dental implants and introduce you to our prosthodontist, Dr. Philip J. Hedger.
Same Day Teeth® is a revolutionary protocol for dental implants which speeds up the process by removing the waiting period between the implant being and prosthetic being placed which is associated with traditional dental implants. Same Day Teeth® gives patients the same long-lasting, high quality results as traditional implants.
The Implants: The Supporting Structure For Your Smile
The implant process for Same Day Teeth® uses the most advanced technology in the industry to help us plan your surgery with the greatest possible accuracy and the highest level of precision. All of our dental implant procedures begin with a full imaging workup using our 3d cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scan. The CBCT scan allows us to evaluate your underlying bone structure and plan for the optimal placement of your dental implants. With the images we gather, we develop a treatment plan using our surgical planning software. This gives us a strategy to use throughout your procedure. Our dental implant surgery is computer guided, using the nSequence® proprietary protocol to find the best placement locations for your dental implants.
The Prosthetics: Your New Smile
Next, we place a bar-supported, immediate-load, full-arch restoration during the same visit as your surgery. Our prosthetics, or restorations, are custom built and created by our prosthodontist, Dr. Philip J. Hedger. Your restorations are milled from a solid block of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) using impressions and computer images of your bite. PMMA is a strong, durable material and makes for aesthetically pleasing results. Your restorations will be color-matched to your natural teeth to allow for a seamless integration into your smile. By placing your restorations on the same day as your implants, we can provide you with immediate enhancement to the function and aesthetics of your bite.
